Cohabitation Agreements

A Cohabitation Agreement is a written legal contract between two parties, who share the same residence, that contemplates the ownership and division of joint and/or individual property upon their separation. Cohabitation agreements are vital for couples who have built a life together outside of marriage or roommates who have acquired property together.

At Martin & Wagner, P.A. we understand the frustrations that unmarried couples and/or roommates experience in our legal system because Minnesota law does not recognize common law marriage or roommates’ rights. Our attorneys will work with you to identify your objectives and goals to protect your property interests in the event your relationship ends. An important piece of a Cohabitation Agreement is executing a Last Will and Testament.
